Welcome to 6th Grade at Indian River Middle School!
Sixth grade is a crucial year as we help transition you from the world of elementary school, into the world of secondary education. Our 6th grade students will continue to gain independence, as they learn to navigate their way from class to class, have access to their own combination locker, and follow their own personalized class schedule. Our 6th grade staff is here to help make this a smooth and exciting transition!
There are a variety of different courses you'll take in 6th grade here at IRMS. Most courses are required, with the exception of music ensembles, which are new to our 6th grade students. In June, students had an opportunity to select whether or not they wanted to participate in music ensembles (Band, Orchestra, Chorus) and have been scheduled accordingly. The coursework for 6th grade is listed below. Be diligent in your work, ask questions, and focus on your studies, and success will come your way!

*Band and Orchestra students are additionally required to attend instrumental lessons which follow a 1/6 day cycle rotation. Students are responsible for the classwork they miss during lessons and should plan ahead!
